Online Private GMAT Tutoring Rates: US$125/hour for 2-Hour Sessions or US$150/hour for 1-Hour Sessions

In-Person Private GMAT Tutoring Rates: US$150/hour for 2-Hour Sessions or US$175/hour for 1-Hour Sessions

My rates for private tutoring sessions are lower than the rates you’ll pay one of the big test prep companies for someone with my credentials. The instructors and tutors at Kaplan and Princeton are not required to have 99th percentile GMAT scores. Rates for Kaplan's least experienced private GMAT tutors start at about US$135/hour, if you commit to a 35-hour package. At Princeton, rates for the least experienced private GMAT tutors start at US$150/hour, if you commit to an 18-hour package. Rates for tutoring with Princeton's most experienced GMAT tutors are as high as US$300/hour. Private tutoring rates at the “elite” GMAT companies, including the company where I've taught for the past five years, range from US$185/hour to US$225/hour. The elite companies require that their instructors and tutors have 99th percentile GMAT scores.

Online Private GMAT Tutoring

I provide online private GMAT tutoring for clients worldwide using GoToMeeting. Most of my private tutoring is done online, and I've worked successfully with clients in every major U.S. city as well as many countries around the world. Each 1-on-1 GMAT tutoring session is customized to suit your needs. GoToMeeting is easy-to-use and free (I pay for the subscription). It offers a whiteboard, PowerPoint sharing, and audio by telephone or through the Internet (VOIP). See my Testimonials for feedback I've received from online tutoring clients in many different cities. Here are a few recent success stories from my online clients.

"All the [tutoring] classes are one-on-one, and online via GoToMeeting, which I had never done before but worked well... I strongly recommend Stuart..."
Joe H., Washington, DC [2012 GMAT & MBA Admissions Consulting Client Scored 760 & Just Accepted at Harvard Business School!]

"After giving an online session a try, I realized that it actually worked well and was quite convenient."
Sebastian G., San Francisco, California [2011 GMAT Client with a 700+ Score Accepted at Wharton!]

"After initially not getting into the schools I wanted with a score of 650 (49 on the quant, 30 on the verbal), I worked with Stuart as my private tutor weekly for around 2 months on the verbal section in online sessions... When I took the exam again, I felt confident going in and got a 770 (50 on the quant, 42 on the verbal)."
Natalie O., Dallas, Texas [2010 GMAT Client with a 770 Score – Accepted at Wharton with a Scholarship!]

In-Person Private GMAT Tutoring

I offer in-person private GMAT tutoring sessions in Palo Alto and San Francisco, California.

Internet Audio

You can use a headset connected to your computer to take advantage of GoToMeeting’s Internet audio (VOIP), or you can call in by telephone. A variety of headsets are available. One inexpensive option is the Logitech Clearchat stereo headset available for about US$10+shipping at www.amazon.com.

Audio by Telephone

Call-in phone numbers will be U.S.-based numbers that will likely be non-local, long-distance calls.

Approach

I recommend 2 hours for the first session. Thereafter, we can schedule 1-hour or 2-hour sessions. In our first session, we’ll focus on an overall strategy, including how to map out a study plan that will optimize your use of the time available before you take the exam. We can follow a structured lesson plan and/or review questions you have on problems you’ve found challenging on your own. We’ll work together to (1) fill any content gaps you may have (e.g. math, grammar, etc.); (2) help you master the strategies associated with each GMAT question type; and (3) improve your speed / pacing.

In the first session, you'll receive my 10-page set of GMAT notes with tips, resources and math review, and I’ll give you a sample template for the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA).
